Group with permissions

Please be reminded that to operate screens you require a group of Academy Teacher. Manual how to activate the group is on page with tutorial for standard screen.

Screen preparation and usage

Screen will show controls of Internet browser when hovered on. If you just want to paste your link without changing the homepage, just click on the screen to enable it, and then paste your link to address bar.
However, if you like to change homepage link and/or way of showing controls, use below manual:

  1. Right click on the screen and select: “Edit” from context menu.
  2. In object editing window select: “Select face” or “Select side”.
  3. Left click on the screen – single face will be selected.
  4. In object editing window go to tab: “Texture”.
  5. Go to subtab: “Media”.
  6. In the lower part of the window click: “Choose…” – new window will open.
  7. Enter your link to webpage, youtube video, presentation or online PDF (up to 8 MB) – the preview should be presented.
  8. Set showing parameters:
    • Auto zoom – YES – viewer view will be centered and zoomed in.
    • Auto play – YES (for presentation and PDF files), NO (for movies).
    • Auto scale – YES – content will be stretched to entire screen.
  9. Go to tab: “Adjust” and set the navigation parameters:
    • Controls size
      • Standard – Full address bar.
      • Small – Only icons.
    • Navigation and Interactivity along with showing controls. We recommend following settings:
      • Onwer – both enabled.
      • Group (Academy Teacher) – both enabled.
      • Anyone – only navigation and interactivity enabled.
  10. Close both windows by clicking Apply then OK.
  11. Enable screen, new homepage should be shown.

Recommended settings of interactivity and controls allows only the object owner and the speaker to change links, while students can browse the content. Once the speaker change link, it will be changed for everyone, even if the students clicked on the other link at browsed page.

Important! Auto play media is by default turned off in Second Life viewers to avoid massive content load stress. To run media screen, each person has to click on it, whenever they enter parcel (if they turned off media by clicking pause button before leaving it).
