Streaming room preparation

For correct workflow you require Google Chrome!

We are using free tool from co-watching platform of KOSMI. Below manual allows you to prepare streaming room, from which user can control screen showing content. Control of presentation or movie is done by dedicated applications.

  1. Go to platform kosmi.io.
  2. Click on button: “LAUNCH”.
  3. Make your room by clicking “Create room” button or if you already have an account “Log in”.
  4. Free account is required. You can connect it by sing up with Google, Apple or by e-mail with your own password.
  5. After log in to account, you will see the room with audience and chat.
    • It is possible that an AI agent was put into the audience – you can ignore it or remove from the room.
    • You will get action buttons – you can share camera feed, sound from microphone, invite friends, cast to TV (if you have smart TV with Wi-Fi).
  6. Click button “Select Media” – you will get an applet with streaming platforms.
  7. Click on “Screenshare” icon (monitor) on the left corner of the applet.
  8. Click “Start Sharing” button. Portal will automatically check your connection bandwith and begin source selection process.
  9. Select source for screensharing (Selection window from Google Chrome):
    • Chrome tab – online content.
    • Window – online or offline content.
    • Screen – whole monitor view.
  10. If you did not toggle “share sound”, you will get a warning message. If you still want to screenshare without audio, click “Continue without audio”.
  11. Your room will now show the content on the screen before the coach.
  12. Copy link to the room from browser address bar into clipboard.
  13. Go to Second Life to synchronize the screen (see next manual below).

Synchronizing the view with screen in Second Life

Copied link is required to synchronize data, use manual below:

  1. Enable screen in Second Life (click on its edge).
  2. From opened menu choose “Set Room”.
  3. To opened text box paste the copied link and click “send”.
  4. Screen will automatically load the streamed room. There will be two instances of your user on the room audience: Host from kosmi applet and anonimous viewer. Each person that now enables the screen will be automatically added as next anonimous viewer. If you turn off media playing in Second Life (your room preview), your viewer will be removed from room audience.
  5. Now you can control the shared media in kosmi applet:
    • See how many people can see your screen.
    • Expand the view to full screen.
    • Change the media sources.
    • Enable microphone.

Important! If using voice chat in Second life, we recommend to turn off microphone in kosmi applet, as it will produce unwanted reverb, as voice will be trasmitted on both voice and media channels in Second Life.

ATTENTION!
If the lecture hall is shared, we recommend to set room each time. You will avoid stressful situations.
Please be reminded to turn off screensharing in kosmi applet after the lecture is done, and then log out from application.
